The Philipstown Recycling Center is located at the top end of Lane Gate Road in Cold Spring. The facility is open Saturdays ONLY from 9 am to 3 pm.
Paper and cardboard products
White goods (permit required) except for refrigerant-containing appliances
Metals (permit required)
Paper and cardboard products must be bundled with all insides removed, (foil, wax paper, etc.).
DO NOT USE plastic bags. No permit is required for recyclables. A permit is required for certain metal products and white goods (i.e. washing machines and scrap metal). All doors must be removed from washing machines.
Refrigerant Appliances (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, mini-split condenser units and central cooling units) do not require a permit or any per vehicle fees.
DO NOT CUT THE REFRIGERANT LINES OR REMOVE THE REFRIGERANT FROM APPLIANCES. The Recycling Center now accepts appliances that still contain freon or other refrigerants. A third-party contractor will properly remove the refrigerant from the appliances left at the Recycling Center when the Town has accumulated more than 25 appliances.
If you need assistance transporting an old refrigerant appliance to the Recycling Center, please call the Town Clerk at 845.265.3329 extension 3 to schedule a free Saturday morning curb-side pick-up.
Permits available at the Town Offices, temporarily located at the Old VFW Hall, 34 Kemble Avenue, Cold Spring, NY 10516. Until further notice, the Town Offices will be operating BY APPOINTMENT ONLY for in-person assistance. Please call the Town Clerk’s Office at 845-265-3329 to schedule an appointment.

Any wood products
Liquids – items containing liquids
Household batteries – AA, AAA, D, C
Medical equipment (any material that is considered or has come in contact with biohazard or radioactive materials)
VHS cassette tapes
Propane or BBQ tanks
