Recycling Center

The Philipstown Recycling Center is located at the top end of Lane Gate Road in Cold Spring. The facility is open Saturdays ONLY from 9 am to 3 pm.

Items accepted:
Paper and cardboard products
White goods (permit required) except for refrigerant-containing appliances
Metals (permit required)
Paper and cardboard products must be bundled with all insides removed, (foil, wax paper, etc.).

DO NOT USE plastic bags. A permit is required for certain metal products and white goods (i.e. washing machines and scrap metal). All doors must be removed from washing machines.

Refrigerant Appliances (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, mini-split condenser units and central cooling units) do not require a permit or any per vehicle fees.

DO NOT CUT THE REFRIGERANT LINES OR REMOVE THE REFRIGERANT FROM APPLIANCES. The Recycling Center now accepts appliances that still contain freon or other refrigerants. A third-party contractor will properly remove the refrigerant from the appliances left at the Recycling Center when the Town has accumulated more than 25 appliances.

Permits available at the Town Clerk’s Office, 238 Main Street, Cold Spring, NY, 10516, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Fees are as follows:

$2.00 car per trip
$5.00 truck per trip

Furniture
Any wood products
Ballasts
Capacitors

Carbon Monoxide Detectors

Dehumidifiers

Devices Containing Liquid Mercury (thermostats, switches, medical devices, thermometers)
Gas Cylinders

Gas Powered Equipment
Light bulbs
Liquids – items containing liquids
Lithium batteries
Medical equipment (any material that is considered or has come in contact with biohazard or radioactive materials)

PCB ballasts
VHS cassette tapes
Propane or BBQ tanks

Philipstown E-WASTE  Program

A permit is NOT REQUIRED for E-Waste beginning Monday, August 7, 2023.

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS:

Batteries (rechargeable), Business Machines, Cables & IT Accessories, Cameras, Computer peripherals (mice, keyboards, webcams, speakers or microphones), Computers, Copiers, Electronic Scrap, Fax machines, Fluorescent lamps, Gaming devices, GPS Units, Lab & medical electronics, Laptops, Mainframe/Midrange, Mobile Devices (Cell phones, tablets, PDAs, MP3 Players), Monitors, Networking gear, Phone Systems, Power supplies, Printers & Plotters (ink, toner, & cartridges), Routers & switches, Scanners, Scientific Equipment, Security Equipment, Servers & server racks, Stereo Equipment, Storage Devices (external hard drives, solid state drives, SD cards, memory cards, card readers), Telecommunications equipment, Televisions, Terminals, Typewriters, UPS, Video & Audio Equipment, Wiring & Cabling

NON-ACCEPTABLE ITEMS:

Small appliances (toasters, vacuum cleaners, coffee makers, irons, hair dryers), Smoke Detectors, Dehumidifiers, Carbon Monoxide Detectors, Gas powered equipment, household hazardous waste, liquids, PCB Ballasts, Radioactive meterials, Wet Cell batteries/alkaline

Items can be dropped off at the Philipstown Recycling Center, 59 Lane Gate Road, Cold Spring on Saturday’s from 9am – 3pm.
