Putnam County Housing Corporation Announces Home Repair Assistance Grants

Putnam County Housing Corporation (PCHC) has received a $200,000 grant from the NYS Affordable Housing Corporation (NYSAHC) to assist homeowners (owner-occupied) throughout the county in making repairs. These funds will be used to provide grants of up to $40,000 to income-eligible homeowners to make repairs such as structural,safety and code upgrades, roofs, windows, electrical, plumbing and heating systems.

A homeowner’s household income must not exceed the income guidelines: $81,871 (one person); $93,598 (two people); $105,326 (three people); $115,943 (four people); $126,369 (five people); $135,685 (six people); $145,110 (seven people) and $154,426 (eight people). There is an asset limitation of $15,000. Assets include any monies in savings accounts, checking accounts, certificates of deposit, stocks, bonds, annuities, pension, 401K, IRA. The value of any real (primary) property is not included when computing assets for home improvement projects.

Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis based on the receipt of a completed application and documents to determine income-eligibility. There is a recapture provision for funding.
