New York State has set up an online dashboard for the school community to view testing results. Public schools will be required to send to the state the numbers of positive cases in their districts, with a plan of expanding this reporting requirement to BOCES and private schools in the near future.   Learn more.

The Putnam County Department of Health is offering seasonal flu vaccine to residents of Putnam County 18 years of age and older.

Cost: $25.00
(65 and older or with Medicare Card – FREE)
Appointments are required. **No Appointment Needed for October 7th clinic**
Please bring proof of residency (driver’s license) and Medicare card.

COVID-19 guidance must be followed:

  • All residents MUST remain in their vehicles at ALL times for drive thru clinics.
  • Social/physical distancing and face coverings are required.
  • Short sleeve shirts are necessary for vaccine administration.
  • Consent forms must be completed prior to clinic.

Pneumonia vaccine will not be available at clinics this year.

The Putnam County Department of Health will be offering High Dose Flu Vaccine for seniors age 65 and older. Studies have shown this vaccine appears more effective in fighting flu in seniors.

Vaccine consent forms must be completed and signed prior to the clinic, and presented at the time of the clinic, along with proof of residency (Driver’s License). Forms will not be available at the clinic. They are available on the Putnam County website at www.putnamcountyny.com/immunization/

If you would like to make an appointment for the September 21 clinic, please call 845-808-1390 ext. 43262 and leave a message with your name and telephone number. Someone will call you back to schedule an appointment. A maximum of 300 appointments will be available. Appointments will close by Saturday, September 19 at noon.

The Philipstown Highway Department will be closing East Mountain Road South on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 7:30am to 4:00pm for paving, starting at Mailbox #668 to the intersection with East Mountain Road North.

Rain date is Friday, September 11, 2020, from 7:30am to 4:00pm.

All residents north of the intersection must access Route 9 from East Mountain Road North ONLY.

Town Board – Regular Monthly Meeting – September 3rd @ 7:30 pm

The Town Board will hold their Regular Monthly Meeting on Thursday, September 3rd at 7:30 pm at the Philipstown Recreation Center at 107 Glenclyffe Drive, Garrison, NY. All meetings are open to the public but will be conducted in accordance with the following criteria:

All meeting attendees must wear a face covering. Attendees are asked to bring their own masks.

All meeting attendees must adhere to social distancing requirements at all times before, during, and after meetings. Seating at the Recreation Center has been arranged to meet the six (6) feet social distancing requirement.

For individuals who are ill or showing symptoms of illness, the Town respectfully requests that you not attend public meetings.

Individuals who are not able to attend public meetings in person, for any reason, are encouraged to contact staff or elected officials by phone or email at any time with questions, concerns, or ideas about meeting agendas or service.

Individuals showing symptoms of illness who attend public meetings may be asked to leave.

Lost Lizard found on Old Albany Post Road


On August 25, 2020 Animal Nation was called to retrieve this Tegu (lizard) which was found along Old Albany Post Road in Garrison. Animal Nation will hold the animal until September 2, 2020 at which time the animal will be deemed stray and placed up for adoption. Hazardous Household Waste Drop-off (03 Oct 2020)

The next Putnam County Department of Health Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day is scheduled for October 3rd, 2020 from 9am-12pm at the Fahnestock State Park Canopus Beach Parking Lot on Route 301 in the Town of Kent.
